The accused impersonated USFDA officials through fake emails, demanding USD 250 million and threatening regulatory action with forged documents.

Hyderabad: Cyberabad Cyber Crime Police have arrested two persons on charges of carrying out a highly sophisticated extortion and cyber-intimidation racket targeting the Hetero Group of Companies, one of India’s largest pharmaceutical organisations.

One of the arrested persons, Yendapally Jessy Sudarshan was an employee of Hetero, while the second person was his friend Gadi Manikanta. Both hailed from the same village in Andhra Pradesh.
