New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Wednesday agreed to list on Friday a petition challenging the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Kerala. Advocate Haris Beeran mentioned before the Chief Justice of India the plea filed by the Indian Union Muslim League (IUML), seeking an urgent hearing. He argued that with local body elections underway in Kerala, carrying out the SIR simultaneously would create practical difficulties.

Chief Justice Gavai agreed to take up the matter on Friday. Advocate CK Sasi also mentioned a petition filed by the Kerala Government, requesting that the SIR be deferred until the local polls are completed. The CJI said all related matters would be heard together.
