Shubman Gill is set to miss the second Test against South Africa, beginning November 22 at the Barsapara Stadium in Guwahati, as the Indian captain has not yet recovered from the neck injury he sustained during the first Test at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata.
Sources told India Today that Gill is also in doubt for the ODI series, with the team management unwilling to take any risks ahead of a busy international calendar. They added that he may be rested from the ODIs as a precaution to ensure he returns fully fit for the upcoming assignments.
If Gill doesn’t take the field, Rishabh Pant will lead the side, with India aiming to avoid a series defeat after their 30-run loss in Kolkata, where they were bowled out for 93 while chasing 124.
Gill was taken to the hospital for further examinatio
