LSU fifth-year senior quarterback Garrett Nussmeier is doubtful to play this Saturday against Western Kentucky, LSU interim coach Frank Wilson said Wednesday.
Nussmeier participated in some individual drills during Tuesday’s practice, but his abdominal injury still “hasn’t changed much since last week,” when the Tigers quarterback suffered a setback last Thursday and sat out Saturday’s win over Arkansas.
“Those same issues are there for him,” Wilson said. “I would say he’s doubtful.”
Without Nussmeier, LSU will turn to sophomore Michael Van Buren at quarterback for a second straight week. Van Buren completed 21 of 31 throws for 221 yards and a touchdown in his first start for LSU against Arkansas.
