Quarterback Jaxson Dart has progressed to the next step in the concussion protocol and will return to practice as a non-contact participant, interim head coach Mike Kafka announced before Wednesday's session at the Quest Diagnostics Training Center.
Kafka also announced that running back Eric Gray, who has been on the physically unable to perform list all season, has been designated for return.
The Giants (2-9) are gearing up for a trip to face the Lions (6-4) on Sunday at Ford Field.
With Dart in the concussion protocol, veteran Jameis Winston made his Giants debut last week in a 27-20 home loss to the Packers. Russell Wilson, who started the first three weeks of the season for the Giants, served as the backup.
