New York City Police Commissioner Jessica Tisch will remain in her post under Mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani , ending weeks of speculation about whether the incoming administration would retain her. The announcement came Wednesday morning in a joint statement from both.

Mamdani praised Tisch’s record, citing her efforts to uproot corruption within the NYPD’s upper ranks, lower crime rates, and defend democratic norms. “Together, we will deliver a city where rank-and-file officers and the communities they serve alike are safe, represented, and proud to call New York their home,” he said.
