Nebraska just got a big surprise on Wednesday.

Quarterback commit Dayton Raiola announced that he is no longer joining the Huskers, ending a commitment he held for more than 14 months. The news hit especially hard because the Raiola family has long ties to the program.

The Huskers already lost Dylan Raiola earlier this fall because of a season-ending injury. Now Dayton’s decision adds another setback during an already difficult season. The timing also hurts, with the early signing period only weeks away.

Rivals reporter Chad Simmons first shared the news.

“My recruitment is 100% open,” Dayton told him. The three-star quarterback from Buford High School in Georgia is now one of the top uncommitted players in the 2026 class.
