Police officers who were called to reports of a dog abandoned by the roadside were left baffled to discover a toy of Sven the reindeer from "Frozen".

Derbyshire Police were alerted to a "small, bully type dog" tied up at the top of Slack Hill along Chesterfield Road, near Matlock, Derbys, by concerned members of the public.

But upon arrival, they were left surprised when the animal in need turned out to be Sven from the hit Disney film franchise.

Amused cops shared details of the comical callout on social media and how they had found "Santa's reindeer resting after a test flight over the Dales area."
