LOUISVILLE, Ky. — City leaders and the Louisville Medical & Education District celebrated the opening of LOUMED Commons, a public park advancing the city's goal of having more green space and a better connected downtown.

The one-acre park at 316 E. Chestnut St. is in a former downtown block, which is in the heart of the district anchored by Louisville's leading hospitals and educational institutions. LOUMED said it is designed for recreation and features shaded seating, native plantings and space for community programs, food trucks and events.
