Rap star Nicki Minaj thanked President Donald Trump during a United Nations event as she capitalized on his contested claim that Christians are facing persecution in Nigeria.

Trump announced earlier this month that the United States will “immediately stop” aid and assistance to Nigeria and threatened military action if the killing of Christians continues in the country. Nigeria, a strategic U.S. partner, has repeatedly denied the president’s claims.
