David Gallagher, 25, from Cork, has been charged with the murder of his 59-year-old mum, Stella Gallagher, and with assaulting his dad

A 25-year-old man in Cork has been charged with the murder of his mother and the assault of his father.

David Gallagher , of Shrewsbury Downs, Ballinlough, appeared before Cork District Court this afternoon following a stabbing on Monday night. Gardai and emergency services were called to a house at Shrewsbury Downs at about 9pm on Monday.

Today, Gallagher was charged with murdering his mum, Stella Gallagher, 59, at the family home on Monday. He was also charged with assault causing harm to his dad, Brian Gallagher, 63, at the same address on the same night.
