The 154th racing season at the Fair Grounds Race Course will begin Thursday at the historic track in Gentilly. A look at some top horses to watch at the 2025-2026 Fair Grounds racing meet:

Magnitude

The top older horse on the Fair Grounds backside, he burst on the scene by winning the Grade II Risen Star Stakes by 9 ¾ lengths. The speedy son of Not This Time was sidelined from the Kentucky Derby trail by a bone chip in his ankle that required surgery. He returned to competition this summer by winning the Iowa Derby and placing second and third in the Grade I Pennsylvania Derby and Travers Stakes, respectively. He is expected to be one of the favorites in the Grade II Clark Stakes at Churchill Downs later this month.
