A $2 sale price of a roughly 0.57-hectare property in north Welland isn’t relevant to a proposed four-storey, 60-unit building on the northwest corner of Quaker and Rice roads, city planner Grant Munday told city council.

Upper Canada Consultants senior planner Nicholas Godfrey, acting for real estate agents Roman Grocholsky and Brad Johnstone and builder John Lally of Lally Homes, appeared at Tuesday’s council meeting to request the land be rezoned to community commercial corridor from rural residential to allow the development.

The rezoning would allow for a proposed four-storey building with 293 square metres of commercial space on the main floor and 60 residential units on the floors above.
