MARYVILLE, Tenn. — Maryville Police Chief Tony Crisp knew there was a problem before he saw the wreck that injured Field Training Officer Justin Brown last Friday.
Brown was an officer involved with a motorcade taking Vice President JD Vance from McGhee Tyson airbase to an event in East Tennessee on Friday, when he was struck by a Tennessee Highway Patrol vehicle at East Lamar Alexander Parkway at Merrit Road, at 6:11 p.m.
Since then, he's had surgery at the University of Tennessee Medical Center, and although he is severely injured, Crisp said his condition is improving, and he hopes to see him back on the force sometime.
Crisp's been Maryville's Police Chief since the early 2000s, and on the force for more than 40 years.
