A 47-year-old man has been arrested and charged with attempted murder in connection with a violent knifepoint robbery that left a woman seriously injured in Rockland County, police announced. 

The attack happened around 10:45 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 17, on East Hickory Street in Hillcrest, as Daily Voice previously reported.  

Officers arrived to find a female victim who told police she had been confronted by a masked man dressed in dark clothing. Police said the suspect threatened her with a knife, robbed her, and then fled the area. 

The victim’s pink iPhone 15, black purse, and a small brown handbag were stolen during the robbery. She was taken to a local hospital with serious injuries and is now in stable condition.

After what officials described as an intensive investigation, detectives arrested 47-year-old Emmanuel Michel of Spring Valley and identified him as the suspect. Police said he was taken into custody and charged with second-degree attempted murder, first-degree assault, second-degree burglary, first-degree robbery, first-degree stalking, third-degree criminal possession of a weapon, and fourth-degree criminal possession of stolen property. 

The suspect was processed at Ramapo Police headquarters and arraigned at about 2:45 p.m. Tuesday. On the attempted murder charge alone, bail was set at $500,000 cash, $1 million secured bond, or $1.5 million partially secured. For the burglary charge, bail was set at $250,000 cash, $500,000 secured bond, or $1,000,000 partially secured.
