MANCHESTER, N.H. —

New Hampshire officials are warning about a scam targeting recipients of benefits from the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program.

Officials with the New Hampshire Attorney General's Office said that scammers are calling, texting and emailing people who receive SNAP benefits in an effort to get their personal information.

The Department of Justice Consumer Protection and Antitrust Bureau has received several reports from the New Hampshire Department of Health and Human Services about people impersonating DHHS officials claiming that someone's benefits will be held back until their Social Security number, date of birth and other sensitive information are confirmed.
