NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) - Metro Nashville Public Schools and city leaders celebrated a major milestone Thursday with the ribbon cutting of the new Lakeview Elementary School, a project designed to ease overcrowding in one of the city’s fastest-growing areas.
Although students have been learning inside the building since the start of the school year, this marked the official celebration with Mayor Freddie O’Connell and MNPS leadership. The new space was built to keep up with Antioch’s rapid population boom and growing student enrollment.
The school now spans 117,000 square feet and is designed to serve around 800 students. It is increasing the school‘s previous capacity by about 100.
While some construction work is still underway, classrooms are already full of students and teachers sett
