TEXARKANA, Texas - An industrial park in Texarkana is expanding rail capacity with two new locomotives.
It's part of a $3.15 million investment to bolster rail service at the TexAmericas Center off Highway 82.
TexAmericas Center officials say the recent investment aims to meet current tenant needs and provide future growth. The two locomotives will cater to industries that depend on heavy commodities and long-distance shipping.
TexAmericas Center Executive Director Scott Norton says the need for the new locomotives arose following the acquisition of a railcar storage business in 2021.
