SPENCER — Carter Williams scored 40 points, 27 in the second half, as North Rowan rallied to beat Thomasville 86-71 on Tuesday in a non-conference basketball opener.

The North school record of 50 points was set by Brian Paige in 1989 and has stood the test of time. There have been only a handful of 40s, but Williams accounted for the third one in recent years. Emari Russell had a 41-point game in the final game of the 2024-25 season, while George Maxwell scored 42 two seasons ago.
