WOODBURY, Vt. (WCAX) - Students at Woodbury Elementary School transformed their school into a restaurant Tuesday night, serving friends and family at the Bears’ Hibernation Feast. Cat Viglienzoni visited the Washington County town of about 930 people for this week’s “Vermont’s Own.”
Nineteen students — the youngest kids in the school and their “big buddies” from sixth grade — spent weeks learning the ins and outs of food service.
Professional bread baker Nina Livellara from Baker’s Bench. and other community partners, provided the training. One of her top lessons -- clean hands.
“Henry, there’s a big tray of roasted squash in front of you. That’s also going to be part of this layer. So we’re kind of building it as if it’s a layer cake, but it’s a salad,” Livellara explains.
