WELLS RIVER, Vt. (WCAX) - Wells River received a 21,000-gallon temporary water tank on Wednesday to meet the village’s winter water needs after contamination compromised its well.

Shortly after noon, a massive water tank rolled down Main Street in Wells River. Prep work on the pad where it will sit through the winter was completed just prior to the tank’s arrival.

Wells River has trucked in 30,000 gallons of water a day to the village’s reservoir for several months, which sits on a hill just above Main Street. But the road to get to the reservoir is too steep for winter travel.

“It’s a temporary solution to our water hauling needs,” said Village Trustee Erik White.
