Seattle Seahawks veteran nose tackle Johnathan Hankins won’t return to play this season, head coach Mike Macdonald told reporters on Wednesday. The 33-year-old Hankins has been on the non-football injury list with a back injury since the start of training camp.

Hankins re-signed on a one-year deal with Seattle in late April after appearing in all 17 games for the Seahawks in 2024. He played 34.5% of Seattle’s defensive snaps last year, recording one sack, five tackles for loss, 30 tackles, a pass breakup and an interception. He received the lowest Pro Football Focus grade of his 12-year NFL career, ranking 115th out of 118 qualified defensive tackles.
