WICKENBURG, AZ (AZFamily) — Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office rescue teams jumped into action on Tuesday to save three people when their SUV got washed away in Wickenburg.
Two vehicles were swept away east of North Vulture Mine and Broken Arrow Drive , which is about a mile north of the U.S. 60, MCSO said.
Wickenburg firefighters rescued someone from a partially submerged vehicle, while MCSO crews took to the air.
The MCSO helicopter found the vehicle, a white SUV with three people inside that was nearly underwater and wedged against a tree.
Video from MCSO shows a deputy being lowered into the wash. That’s where he broke the rear window to access the three victims. Video shows the roaring rapids of the water with the wind whipping around because of the storm.
