PHOENIX (AZFamily) — A man has been taken into custody more than a year after a teenage girl was allegedly assaulted outside her Phoenix home.
Esteban Efren Luna-Campos, 28, was arrested on Tuesday for multiple felony charges.
On July 29, 2024, a 14-year-old girl was walking her dog behind her home near 83rd Avenue and Buckeye Road when she was tackled to the ground. Court documents say the man pinned her to the ground and put his thumb in her mouth to keep her from screaming.
The man reportedly took her phone, then began touching her chest and between her legs.
The teen was able to get up, but her dog had run away. The suspect ran to his bicycle and rode away as the girl jumped the fence into her backyard and screamed for her parents.
She suffered minor injuries from being tackled
