NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) - Update (2 p.m.): Officers with the Metro Nashville Police Department are continuing to search for a man who escaped custody near a hospital on Wednesday morning.
The fugitive, 20-year-old Marcus Stanton, has been on the run after escaping MNPD custody near General Hospital before 11 a.m.
On Tuesday night, detectives attempted to stop Stanton after he drove off from his home in a white Lexus armed with an AR-15 pistol, according to police. He was speeding away from officers before he eventually bailed from the Lexus.
Police said he ran away from officers on foot, through backyards and managed to make his way back home and refused to leave for hours. Stanton was eventually found hiding in the attic, where he had set up a cardboard wall.
