MADISON (WKOW) -- The man convicted in a deadly shooting preceded by a robbery and drug deal gone wrong at the Harmony Apartments in July 2023 was sentenced on Wednesday.
A judge sentenced Devonte Gafford, 34, to life in prison. He will be eligible to apply for extended supervision once he completes 45 years of that sentence. Gafford will be 79 years old.
In August, a jury found Gafford guilty of first-degree intentional homicide, first-degree recklessly endangering safety and being a felon in possession of a firearm in the death of Devon Grant, 20.
This was the second time his case was tried. In the first trial , jurors found him guilty of the firearm charge but were deadlocked on the other two counts, so a mistrial was declared.
