Due to the overwhelming interest from Fort Worth residents in serving on the new Fort Worth ISD board of managers, the Texas Education Agency has announced an extension of the application deadline.

NBC 5 has learned that 180 applications have been submitted but another 800 are currently in progress.

Of the 180 completed applications, most applicants are from the district or live within the Fort Worth ISD boundaries.

With hundreds showing interest, the TEA has extended the application deadline.
