PacifiCorp, facing mounting financial pressure from the Labor Day 2020 wildfires in Oregon, on Wednesday announced a $150 million settlement with more than 1,400 plaintiffs.

More than 300 of them had been part of a sprawling class-action lawsuit against PacifiCorp, although represented by rivals to the lead counsel firms that won damning verdicts against the Berkshire Hathaway Energy company in 2023.

The James case , as it's known, poses perhaps the biggest threat to the PacifiCorp. It's led to $600 million in judgments against PacifiCorp to date with the real possibility of billions more as additional claims are heard.
