HILLSBORO, Ore. — The city of Hillsboro has declared a state of emergency in response to federal immigration agents making dozens of arrests in the area.
In a resolution passed overnight Tuesday, the city condemned Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) for "targeting" students and families and called for an immediate end to such actions.
"The City of Hillsboro calls on all elected officials, including members of Congress from Oregon, to publicly denounce these unconstitutional actions, demand immediate oversight and transparency from immigration enforcement agencies, and work to ensure the rights of all individuals — regardless of immigration status — are fully protected under the Constitution," the resolution reads in part.
