ST. LOUIS, Mo. (First Alert 4) - On a hillside across from the Boathouse in Forest Park, hundreds of pink flags now mark where new trees are taking root.
Forest Park Forever, a private nonprofit conservancy, partners with the City of St. Louis to restore, maintain and sustain Forest Park’s 1,300 acres. In addition to caring for historic structures and recreation paths, the organization leads long-term habitat projects like the work underway in an area known as Successional Forest.
Successional Forest is a more than 20-acre section of the park that was once maintained as formal parkland, with mostly mowed turf and scattered landscape trees.
