COLUMBIANA, Ala. —

The community of Columbiana is mourning the loss of former Mayor Dr. Stancil Handley.

Handley served as mayor from 2012 to 2020 and represented Ward 2 from 2008 to 2012.

Handley held countless other community leadership positions throughout the years.

The city shared the news on social media, expressing their condolences to Handley's family and friends, saying, "Thank you, Mayor Handley, for leaving Columbiana better than you found it."

The city will communicate arrangements when they are finalized.

No word as to his cause of death.
