VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. — A portion of the Broad Bay in Virginia Beach previously closed to shellfish harvesting due to a sewage release will reopen Thursday.
The closure began Nov. 10 .
The untreated sewage release impacted water quality in the area, meaning shellfish from there could not be consumed. However, testing of a shellfish sample collected on Nov. 18 indicates the area is now safe for shellfish to be harvested and consumed.
