CLEVELAND, Ohio — A standoff with officers in Strongsville ended peacefully Wednesday after more than eight hours, police said.
Just after 5:15 a.m., police were dispatched to the 13400 block of Gary Drive for a report of a man who had barricaded himself inside the home, police said.
A caller reported the 26-year-old man had been suffering a mental health crisis and possessed a handgun, police said.
In response, police told neighbors to remain indoors, and Strongsville City Schools closed nearby Whitney Elementary .
Officers tried to contact the person who was barricaded alone inside the house, but they were unsuccessful.
