SCHENECTADY — The Schenectady County Republican Committee has taken control of the Schenectady city GOP, with county chair Liz Joy contending that low fundraising numbers and the absence of Republican candidates on the ballot in the city’s fall election made the move to take over the city party necessary.
During a Schenectady County GOP executive committee meeting Tuesday night, the county party voted to take full authority over the city committee, which will no longer operate independently.
