GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — The families of two women killed in Muskegon Heights on Monday say they were both victims of domestic violence.

State lawmakers are working on bipartisan legislation to address domestic violence, specifically "Personal Protection Orders," or "PPOs".

Shelenthia Willis’ daughter told 13 On Your Side Tuesday Deangelo Aubrey was out on parole after serving prison time for "pistol-whipping" her mother.

“He was locked up for four years, and when he got out, he was writing letters to my mama telling my mama that he's going to kill her when he got out,” Keizja Willis said.
