LOS ANGELES — USC has seen improvement in its defense this season, whether it’s consistency at cornerback or a downhill style of play from the linebacking corps. The run defense, however, has yet to fulfill its potential.

The No. 16 Trojans (8-2 overall, 6-1 Big Ten) rank 63rd out of all FBS teams when it comes to stopping the run, and they’re allowing 145.80 rushing yards per game – although they’ve only allowed nine rushing touchdowns.

This weekend, they’ll face one of the best running teams in the country when they travel to No. 6 Oregon (9-1, 6-1).

“There’s a lot of times where it looks like the play’s about to be over, and it should be a 5-yard gain, and they’re turning those into explosive plays,” USC defensive coordinator D’Anton Lynn told reporters after practice on Wednesda
