DAYTON, Texas — Two Buddhist monks were hurt in a crash on US 90 near Dayton, Texas, when a truck struck a pilot vehicle accompanying a group on a peace march Wednesday night.
The crash happened on U.S. 90 in Dayton in Liberty County near 99 at about 6:15 p.m. The pilot vehicle struck two of the monks. One was taken by helicopter to a Houston hospital. The other was taken to a hospital by ambulance. Their conditions were not known.
The driver of the truck that struck the pilot vehicle was cooperating with authorities.
A group of about a dozen Buddhist monks are on a peace walk from Fort Worth to Washington, D.C.
The group of monks were due to stop in Dayton on Wednesday night on their Walk for Peace , a march on foot over multiple months. The walk began on October 26 in Fort Worth. P
