The CFMEU administrator has revealed plans to expel ousted Queensland, Victorian and New South Wales leaders, describing alleged violence within the powerful union as a "cancer".

Mark Irving KC has given evidence at the Queensland commission of inquiry into alleged corruption and criminal links within the union's state branch.

The Victorian barrister was appointed by the federal government to lead construction divisions across the country last year, amid allegations bikie gangs and crime syndicates had infiltrated the union.

He told Thursday's public hearing in Brisbane that CFMEU officials in several states, including Queensland, New South Wales and Victoria, "actively encouraged or permitted" misconduct by either "turning a wilful blind eye" or "making it their business operations".
