RANCHO CORDOVA, Calif. —
A mother picking up her son from school in Rancho Cordova is being called a hero after she saved a man from a burning home and helped limit the damage before firefighters arrived.
Sac Metro firefighters shared a photo of the fire-damaged home, which started in a shed and spread to the house on Zinfandel Drive near Folsom Boulevard.
The woman saw the smoke while driving in the neighborhood, according to Sac Metro Fire. She stopped and knocked on the front door. When no one answered, she opened the door and called out to see if anyone was inside. That woke up the homeowner who was sleeping.
The woman is credited with getting him out safely, then grabbing a garden hose to help slow the spread of the fire.
Firefighters arrived to put out the fire. No one was hurt.
