In a shocking incident, an unclaimed body was ferried from a government-run hospital to the cremation ground in a municipal body's vehicle used for collecting garbage in Punjab's Phagwara.

The incident came to light when a person shot a video of the unclaimed body being put into the garbage trolley at Phagwara Civil Hospital. A photo of the same was widely shared on social media. The body was found at the railway station.

When asked about the incident, the driver of the municipal vehicle said it was a "routine practice" to transport the unclaimed bodies to the cremation ground using the vehicle.

"We are helpless because we are not receiving any facilities from the municipal officials," the driver said.
