A proposed pedestrian bridge over the Maumee River — in place of a demolished railroad bridge — is getting the appropriate hearing among citizens.

Based on the comments reported by media from a public meeting in Perrysburg Township Nov. 12, the project should be able to proceed.

It’s a worthwhile bridge project because it makes use of existing right-of-way rather than allowing that right-of-way to be neglected and wasted.

The pedestrian and bicycle bridge will also bring closer together neighbors who are separated by a river so that both can enjoy the public accommodations found in our region.
