PORTAGEVILLE, Mo. (KFVS) - Family, friends, and the Portageville community came together to honor 18-year-old Kaniah Jennings with a lantern send-off on Thursday.
Loved ones and community members carefully lit and released each lantern into the night sky.
Dozens of people attended to show their support for Keniah Jennings’ family and friends.
Organizer Katie McMillen says the event was all about unity and seeing the community come together after tragedy.
“I have a daughter. And I couldn’t imagine what the family is going through. And I just wanted to, in somehow and in some way, show our support to her family and friends,” said McMillen.
Jenning’s funeral will be held Saturday afternoon at the Portageville High School beginning at 1 p.m.
