Day of Dance

WEST RUTLAND — Marble Valley Dance Collective (MVDC) hosts The Rutland Community Day of Dance for students and adults on Nov. 22 at West Rutland Town Hall. Sponsored by Vermont Community Foundation, the day will include two master classes, as well as a Works In Progress Show that includes members of the collective.

The day begins with a free master class from 10 a.m. to noon for high school students, taught by Millie Heckler. This class will explore House dance, a style that originated in the underground Black and gay clubs of Chicago and New York in the late 1970s/early 1980s. Students will dance with one another; expect intricate footwork.

Open to adult dancers of all levels, the next free master class runs from 1 to 3 p.m. “Tappin’ the Blues Away” is taught
