The Abilene Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB) announced that 2025 Transient Guest Tax collections totaled $135,172.58, a decrease of 34.43 percent from the previous year.

This significant drop occurred even with the addition of 65 new hotel rooms in the community and marks the lowest year of collections in nearly a decade.

The CVB relies on the 8 percent traveler-paid Transient Guest Tax to fund its operations. These dollars support the CVB director and one part-time position, billboards, print, digital, and social media advertising promoting Abilene, statewide tourism partnerships and initiatives, and other community marketing efforts that attract visitors and strengthen the local economy.
