Decision hoped for by first week of December

Opponents and proponents of the Hope Ridge Wind Farm may have an answer, in the first week of December, as to whether the project can move forward.

After hearing arguments on Monday, Fifth Judicial District Judge Lee Fowler said he hopes to have an answer by Dec. 4, if not, it will be January before landowners will have his decision.

In December 2024, several Dickinson County residents filed a lawsuit to overturn the County Commission’s 2-1 vote approving the wind farm.

The lawsuit questions whether the county acted lawfully in granting a conditional use permit (CUP). Plaintiffs contend the process was “corrupted” by a Payment in Lieu of Taxes agreement from the developer, while the defense insists the county followed proper legal procedures
