CLEVELAND — November is typically the busiest month of the year for food banks, and this year, the need remains high even with the end of the recent government shutdown .
Karen Pozna, director of communications for the Greater Cleveland Food Bank, says the organization is moving significantly more food than usual — from about 120,000 pounds a day to as much as 400,000 pounds going out the door to neighbors in need.
"The need remains high, and we are just as busy as we've ever been,” Pozna said. "We have seen increased need — over 36% across our 1,000 partners who we work with to make sure that our neighbors get the food they need."
Even with SNAP benefits restored, Pozna says the demand is steady.
