On Women’s Entrepreneurship Day, Cairn Oil and Gas of Vedanta Ltd. highlighted the journey of more than 3,200 women weavers in Assam who are reshaping rural entrepreneurship through their work on the loom. What started as a household craft has grown into a source of livelihood and economic strength, backed by Cairn’s sustained effort to develop community-run handloom centres in Golaghat and Jorhat.
The centres, set up in partnership with the Assam State Rural Livelihoods Mission, have helped women turn their inherited weaving skills into income-generating ventures.
