EMMETT, Idaho – The Idaho Family Policy Center announced a new petition to designate State Highway 16, which stretches from Emmett to Nampa, as the Charlie Kirk Memorial Highway.
Blaine Conzatti, president of the Idaho Family Policy Center, expressed the significance of the petition.
"I think one thing that made Charlie special is that he was committed to the values of the American founding. He was committed to constitutional government. He was committed to free speech and the ability of every person to engage in political debate. Those were his commitments and that's what this Memorial Highway is intending to honor," said Conzatti.
The petition follows multiple vigils held in honor of Kirk.
It will be introduced to Idaho lawmakers for consideration in the first week of January.
