A Chicago man is facing a federal terrorism charge, accused of setting a 26-year-old woman on fire in an unprovoked attack on a Chicago L train in the city’s busy Loop area Monday evening, according to federal authorities.

The man, Lawrence Reed, 50, faces one count of committing a terrorist attack or other violence against mass transportation, according to a federal complaint filed in the Northern District of Illinois.

On Monday around 9:25 p.m., a man poured a liquid on the woman while they were on the train and ignited it, setting her on fire, the Chicago Police Department said in a statement.
