LYNCHBURG, Va. (WDBJ) - The Liberty University Police Department is investigating an assault on campus that occurred Wednesday.
Police say the assault took place November 19, 2025 on the Academic Lawn near the Center for Natural Sciences. The suspect pointed a knife toward the female victim while asking if she had been stabbed before, then followed the victim into the School of Science, where he told her he wanted to strangle her, while pointing the knife at her torso, according to police.
Police say the victim has “limited knowledge” of the suspect, who was arrested, but then released from custody.
Police have not released the suspect’s name, but they say he is white, 20 years old, 5’ 9” and about 140 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes, and was last reported seen wearing jeans, a b
